Documents are a wide range of online resources, primarily academic research, on development issues that are freely available online.

They are editorially selected, organised thematically and are summarised, in clear, non-technical language for easy consumption.

metadata_url Web-accessible uri for this object
object_id Unique idenitfier of this document
object_type The type of asset, in this case “Document”
title Title of the research paper or document.

Additional Fields

Field Name Description
author This is the name of the author(s) of the research paper. Where more than one person has authored the document, these are recorded in a comma separated string (First initial. Surname).
category_region_array List of regions to that the document  focuses on
  • archived: “false” or “true” (shows whether region has been archived)
  • metadata_url

  • object_name: Region name
  • object_type: “region”
category_region_ids Unique identifiers for the regions that the document focuses on
category_region_path Regions that the document focuses on
category_theme_array Thematic categories which apply to the research document.
  • archived: “false” or “true” (shows whether theme has been archived)
  • level: position in the hierarchy, starting at 1, the top level
  • object_id
  • object_name: Theme name
  • object_type: “theme”
category_theme_path A human-readable list of the theme names, delimited with a .
country_focus List of countries that the document focuses on.
country_focus_array Countries that the document focuses on.

date_created Date the object was added to our collection Date is in ISO 8601 format:YYYY-MM-DD hh:mm:ss

description Abstract or summary of the research paper. This summary has been prepared by a thematic expert and gives a brief overview of the contents of the research, including any findings and recommendations.
et_al Indicates if there are more authors than have been listed.
headline A short version of the title or description of the research document
keyword Subject keywords that relate to the document
language_name The language in which the title, headline and description are written
licence_type Type of licence that document is released under (where known)

publication_date Date the research document was first published This is often given as the first day of the year where the exact date is not known
publication_year Year the document was first published
publisher Organisation that published the research.
publisher_array Organisation that published the research. Each publisher has a linked organisation record, containing address, website and additional information

site Name of the collection to which this document belongs Either Eldis or Bridge
timestamp Indicates when record was indexed in the API Used to determine updates to the index for synchronisation.Timestamp is in ISO 8601 format: YYYY-MM-DD hh:mm:ss
urls URLs of the full text document. This document is usually hosted on the publishers’ website as a PDF but may have several formats or language versions.
website_url URL for the asset on the collection website Link to the document on Eldis or Bridge
